Chair AND Toastmaster
The Chair (also called Chairman or Chairperson) is the speaker who leads the meeting. Their role is to manage the roles and structure of the meeting.
At Rich-Del, the Chair sometimes takes the role of the Toastmaster The Toastmaster presides the Prepared Speech Session of the meeting. The Toastmaster will introduce Toastmasters' learning program, Pathways, and provide a toast related to the predetermined theme of the meeting. |
,The grammarian is in charge of recording improper and excellent use of English which requires them to use their listening skills at a maximum level.
Additionally, they will increase the diction of the club by introducing the "Word of the Week" which is a fairly unknown word related to the theme, and challenge members to use the word as much as possible during the meeting, and also after it. |
The Speaker is the member who will present a prepared speech from their Pathway Program. (learn more about pathways here)
Each speech has its own objectives and encourages the speaker to prepare and deliver a speech which may vary from 4 to 30 minutes. |
The Speech Evaluator role is to actively listen to the speaker and, taking note of the speech objectives, evaluate the speakers' ability to provide an engaging and effective speech.
Table Topics Evaluator
Similar to the Speech Evaluator, the Table Topics Evaluator will listen to multiple impromptu speeches during Table Topics and briefly provide highlights in the participants' speech and areas of improvement.
Invocator (optional role)
The invocator provides a short yet inspiring speech on the theme of the meeting.
Joke Master (optional role)
The Joke Master provides a short moment of levity at the start of the meeting. They can tell a funny story, an anecdote, several jokes or anything that would make the people laugh.
Sergeant-At-Arms
The Sergeant-at-Arms is the only Club officer who always has a role in every meeting. At the beginning of each meeting, he provides the rules and regulations as well as the information on the facilities/zoom interface for the meeting, he also introduces the Chair at the beginning of the meeting and right after the break.
Other events
Throughout the year, members have the opportunity to challenge themselves in a series of contests at the club, area, district or international level.
Held once a year, members can test their presentation skills presenting one of their prepared speeches

Held once a year, members can test their impromptu speaking skills by taking part in our club's table topics contest
